Wageningen is a municipality and historic city located relatively centrally in the Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. Wageningen is a small University city as it is well-known for Wageningen University. This University specialises in the life sciences domain focusing on food and plant sciences. Wageningen University is one of the smallest universities in the Netherlands and has about 40.000 citizens of which one-third are students.

Wageningen is a very green city with forests close by. It also has the famous "Uiterwaarden", which is lower land that can be flooded when the Rhine river is overflown.
